Hi all

For newcomers:

1. Buy a SD card such as Lexar 8Gb MultiUse
2. Download the latest image from http://www.roboard.com/Files/8.....indows.zip
3. Download WinImage Trial version from here: http://www.winimage.com/download.htm
4. Run WinImage when you have the SD card in your reader/writer
5. Click on Disk menu, and select your SD card drive.
6. Click the File / Open and find the Image file.(wherever you saved it)
7. Click Disk / Write and confirm. (accept resizing message)
8. When complete, Exit WinImage.

Edit the AutoExec.bat file by adding
REM in front of _v86boot
Add:
mode com4:9600,N,8,1,P
ctty com4

That's it.
Using your favourite Terminal Emulator and a Null Modem cable to a USB converter, you can now "Talk" to the Educake using FreeDos commands.
Then you can experiment with higher baud rates or running your own program from the SD card.

Hope this helps someone.

Regards

You dont need the Trial-Version of WinImage, because you could use the Freeware Win32 Disk-Imager at
http://sourceforge.net/project.....iskimager/

But before I could use FreeDOS with the SysImage above I had to use the SysImage to Update my Educake.
I had already Bootloader 1.0 but the BIOS has now a cake-Extension in his name = "GuavaCake 0.9"
see history of Sysimage https://github.com/roboard/SysImage/blob/master/history.txt
at 2013.12.26 for "GuavaCake 0.9"
and 2014.03.03 for "solve booting problem"

Before the Updte there seems to be a generic version for the 86duino as BIOS.
I did the update via this instructions: http://www.86duino.com/index.php?p=3245

For updating the Bootloader and BIOS I had to get the USB-Drivers to work with my Windows 8.1 Update 1
I used the Instructions from the second post at http://www.86duino.com/?page_i.....-windows-8
which is linked to http://dawdevel.blogspot.pt/20.....thout.html
but I did not use the Comapq USB Modem Driver - I did use the new Arduino Uno Drivers from the Arduino IDE 1.0.5 at
http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software
because of
NOTICE: Arduino Drivers have been updated to add support for Windows 8.1, you can download the updated IDE (version 1.0.5-r2 for Windows)
