Hi All

Have been watching this product since first advertised, and I am glad I waited to buy one.
Reading all the posts, I am not clear if the Educake is a success.
These simple questions will allow me to proceed.

1. Is there a Freedos Image that is guaranteed to boot.?
2. Writing my own program in FreeBasic,(32 bit Dos version) will it run
AND allow access to all ports and functions.?

Regards

Hi All

The link provided is aimed at other boards and not the Educake.
The disk needed is SD and not micro SD.
Then when I read the long winded method for preparing a SD for booting, I decided to try the
method I use with Compact Flash.
Load the image into "WinImage" free trial, and write it to the SD.
Plugged it ito the SD slot on the Educake, and bingo it booted and reported itself on the usb to Device manager as FreeDos2012.

Tomorrow I will get a Null Modem cable to use with TermPro and see.

the problem with "Press any key to continue . . ." seems related to the normal "Command..com" from FreeDOS :-(
You could use as Command.com the follwing file
c:\fdos\bin\4dos.com

After I did load this Command.com replacement the Directory-Listing didnt pause :-)
Give it a try...

Hi All

Sorry for the late response (have been away)

Yes that worked, although I cheated and simply renamed it to Command.com.
I recall there is a batch file command to use 4Dos.com instead of command.com
but it escapes me at the moment.

To fix this issue simply remove /p (paging) switch from the line
SET DIRCMD=/P /OGN /4
in AUTOEXEC.BAT (3rd line), so it should look
SET DIRCMD=/OGN /4
alsou you can use LS.EXE from DJGPP as alternative to Linux ls command if you rather like that....
