Hi,

I have latest bootloader and bios, latest arduino coding 318...

Small sketches will load and work, but using some built in examples it refuses to upload the sketch!

Hi, hippy,
I saw the result message and know that the process for writing file may be fail during the bootloader working. I also open IDE and select Example > Ethernet > ChatServer to upload it to my EduCake and no problem. I think it is the lifespan of the build-in flash, we know the built-in flash supports limited write cycles and excessive write to the built-in flash will reduce it's life-cycle.
You can try to use a SD card for booting, the steps for making a 86Duino SD card here: http://www.86duino.com/?p=3299
After making a 86Duino SD card, insert it and upload your sketch to 86Duino and then see whether the same problem happens or not.
