Hi All

I have in the past connected FreeDos computers to XP machines by loading the following statements in AutoExec.bat.

cd\Net
C:\NET
et initialize
C:\FDos\Bin\SHARE.com
C:\NET
etbind.com
C:\NET\umb.com
C:\NET\tcptsr.exe
C:\NET\tinyrfc.exe
C:\NET
mtsr.exe
C:\NET\emsbfr.exe
C:\NET\DNR
C:\NET\Sockets
C:\NET
et start
C:\NET
et Share /yes
C:\NET
et use E: \\Development\C /yes

This doesn't work on the EduCake. The installation of TcpTsr fails.

In one of my posts I asked what was different in FreeDos and the following was (part) of the reply.

We modified the fdconfig.sys and autoexec.bat and add some necessary files(ex. bootloader, LAN driver) to suit the 86Duino series(ZERO/ONE/EduCake).

So, what is the difference and what has to be loaded to allow the mapping of a Network drive from XP ?

Regards

PS: There is something wrong with this Forum ability to Copy/Paste

Hi,
I used EduCake's ethernet to connect with the PC before and setps as below:

1. config fdconfig.sys to load LAN driver when booting
> LASTDRIVE=Z
> switches=/N
> DEVICEHIGH=C:\NET\Protman.Dos /i:C:\NET\R6040
> DEVICEHIGH=C:\NET\dis_pkt.dos ( it is packet driver )
> DEVICEHIGH=C:\NET\R6040\RDCPCI.dos ( it is 86Duino LAN driver )

2. config autoexec.bat
> C:\NET\NETBIND.COM
> C:\FDOS\BIN\RDISK.COM /S2 /:Z

3. Open 86Duino IDE, select examples > Ethernet > ChatServer, set ip, dnsserver..., compile and upload it to EduCake.
4. On my PC, write a client program by using winsock2 lib to communicate with EduCake.

Hope to help you.

Hi All

cucubutter, thanks for your reply, BUT I am not trying to use the Lan for the purpose of programming packet transfer.

The purpose is to simply connect the Educake to a Laptop and "see" the drive for copying without having to take the SD out all the time.
My example above (although first letter missing on each line) did do that on X86 FreeDos machines. (in XP it allows Mapping of Network Drive)

Hi,
I think what you do is to use like "Microsoft Network Client 3.0" to connect to your PC disk drive.
Refer to http://www.compmiscellanea.com.....client.htm

I also will test it on 86Duino to connect connect to our server disk drive. If have any result, i will post here later.Smile

Hi All

Android_lin I cannot go further then Tcptsr.exe which gives error
NET0109 Unloadable TCP 1.0 not loaded.

FDConfig.sys
DEVICE=C:\FDOS\BIN\JEMMEX.EXE NOEMS

LASTDRIVE=Z
DEVICEHIGH=C:\NET\Protman.Dos /i:C:\NET\R6040
DEVICEHIGH=C:\NET\dis_pkt.dos
DEVICEHIGH=C:\NET\R6040\RDCPCI.dos
devicehigh=C:\NET\ifshlp.sys
devicehigh=c:\Net\Nemm.dos
devicehigh=c:\Net\tcpdrv.dos

Autoexec.bat
SET TEMP=Z:\
SET TMP=%TEMP%

SET PATH=C:\FDos\BIN;C:\Net;C:\dpmi;
SET DOSDIR=C:\FDOS
SET DIRCMD=/P /OGN /4
SET COPYCMD=/-Y

SET NLSPATH=%dosdir%\NLS
SET HELPPATH=%dosdir%\HELP
SET TEMP=Z:\
SET TMP=%TEMP%
mode com4:9600,N,8,1,P
ctty com4
LH DOSLFN
C:\FDos\Bin\DosLFN.com
C:\dpmi\cwsdpmi.exe
C:\FDos\Bin\LBACache
C:\NET\Net initialize
C:\FDOS\Bin\SHARE.com
C:\NET\Netbind.com
C:\NET\umb.com
C:\NET\tcptsr.exe
C:\NET\tinyrfc.exe
C:\NET\Nmtsr.exe
C:\NET\Nemsbfr.exe
C:\NET\DNR
C:\NET\Sockets
C:\NET\Net start
C:\NET\Net Share /yes
C:\NET\Net use E: \\Development\C /yes
C:\FDOS\BIN\RDISK.COM /S2 /:Z

switches=/N
break=off
dos=high,umb
dosdata=umb
files=60

After Net Start
Error 7361: IPX or NetBios must be loaded in order to load the network services.

EDIT: When I use another TCP/IP stack (Trumpet NTcpDrv.exe) I get
C:\>C:\Net\NTcpDrv -vec=0x62 -ip=192.168.0.10 -netmask=255.255.255.0
Trumpet TCP version 3.1 Interrupt = 0x62
Copyright (c) 1992 by P.R.Tattam, all rights reserved
Installing TCP
Error - Packet driver not loaded

The above always works on FreeDos, so I think the problem lies with incompatibility of Tcptsr

PS: When pasting text which includes "\N" (lower case n) it causes a Cr/Lf
It really stuffs up the text, so the only way is to convert to upper case \N

Hi All

By using the FreeDos app called DEVLOAD I can load the device drivers at the dos prompt.
Mainly I do this so I can see the result.
And here it is, the drivers loaded correctly but Ntcpdrv cant find it, nor can any others I have tried.

Hi Android_Lin,

I'm also interested in getting the TCP/IP networking on FreeDOS to go. Did' you make any progress in getting the network drivers load? Do you have a working CONFIG.SYS/AUTOEXEC.BAT ?

Best regards
Steve

The firmware system of 86Duino loads network drivers in FreeDOS by default. You can use SysImage to make a disk of the 86Duino firmware system (http://www.86duino.com/index.php?p=3203) and then find both working CONFIG.SYS (FDCONFIG.SYS) and AUTOEXEC.BAT in that disk.

I already managed full networking with client and server to map drives on 86Duino and network partner PC. If still of interest I can post AUTOEXEC.BAT/CONFIG.SYS here. (Where can I upload them?)

Hello stevemork,
there are two methods as following:
1. Upload the files to the sharing directory on Google Drive (click here) and i will view the directory regularly. (when uploading complete, view the uploaded files here)
2. Or email your files to robotics@dmp.com.tw
